Day 1. YANGON-SITTWE
Your Life Umbrella guide will pick you up from your hotel
in YANGON and accompany you to the airport for the domestic
flight to SITTWE, the provincial capital and main port of
RAKHINE (Arakan state). Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel
for check in. Continue by car to the Strand Road,
lined with a fascinating variety of stores and enjoy
watching the hustle and bustle of local business activities.
Your visit of the city will continue to the local CULTURAL
MUSEUM and, depending on actual opening time, the local
MOSQUE. Time permitting, visit the 100 year old Buddha with
a golden face at the PAYAGYI TEMPLE. Enjoy sunset from the
“viewpoint” located on the southern fringes of the city,
from where a wonderful view over Sittwe’s bay and the Gulf
of Bengal can be appreciated. Overnight stay in Sittwe Meal:

Day 2. SITTWE - MRAUK-U
After early breakfast set off by car to visit the main
market of Sittwe, where fishermen, town and rural people
come to buy and sell fish and general supplies. You are
transferred to the jetty and proceed by boat for the 70km
(6-8 hours) journey upriver to the last royal capital of
Rakhine, MRAUK-U. Lunch box or lunch on the boat will be
provided. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. In the
afternoon visit the ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM and the PALACE
SITE, dating back to the 16th century. Head then to the
maze-like SHITTAUNG Temple, a shrine of 80,000 Buddha
images; the adjacent ANDAW THEIN ORDINATION HALL and to
HTUKKAN THEIN Temple. Overnight stay in Mrauk U .Meals: On

Day 3. MRAUK-U
Breakfast is followed by a visit to the local market.
Drive to VESALI (Wethali). The former 2.7 square miles large
city was developed by King Mahataing Chandra during the
Vesali Dynasty believed to have lasted until the 8th
century. Visit the ‘Wethali Great Image’ from 327 AD, a huge
sitting Buddha image made out of one piece of sandstone. In
the afternoon explore the 17th century temple of KOETHAUNG
and other highlights of Mrauk U (time permitting)..

Day 4. MRAUK-U – SITTWE - YANGON
After an early rise you will be transferred to the jetty for
the boat journey back to Sittwe. Both light breakfast and
picnic lunch will be served on board. En-route stop in one
of the Myo Villages, famous for their natural Khami Cloth
(time and river-tide conditions permitting). Upon arrival to
Sittwe, transfer to the airport for domestic flight back to
YANGON. Upon arrival to Yangon, you are transferred to your
hotel.
